When I was growing up, the baked goods were always stored in the oven after they were made--so much easier to avoid than if they were sitting on the counter. And those of us that cooked automatically checked the oven before preheating. But my husband hadn't been trained--I cannot tell you how many batches of brownies he burned up before I gave up on the oven as a storage area!
